S 2 Ep 19 - Walk To Save Your Life with Dr. David Sabgir
Wednesday Mar 18, 2020
Wednesday Mar 18, 2020
In this brilliant episode of Thrive Bites, I sit down with Dr. David Sabgir as we talked about the essentials and health benefits of walking and why it is so paramount to start moving today.
Walk with a Doc was started in 2005 by Dr. David Sabgir, a cardiologist in Columbus, Ohio. Frustrated with his inability to affect behavior change in the clinical setting, Dr. Sabgir invited his patients to go for a walk with him in a local park on a spring Saturday morning. To his surprise, over 100 people showed up, energized, and ready to move. Since that first event in 2005, Walk with a Doc has grown as a grassroots effort, with a model based on sustainability and simplicity. A doctor gives a brief presentation on a health topic and then leads participants on a walk at their own pace. Healthy snacks, coffee, and blood pressure checks are an optional part of a Walk with a Doc event. The Walk added an Executive Director in 2009 and focused on building a program that could easily be implemented by interested doctors in other cities around the country. As a result of these efforts, the reach of Walk with a Doc now extends all around the globe with over 500 chapters worldwide, including Walk with Future Doc chapters led by medical students! Walking was recently recognized by the Surgeon General of the United States of America as one of the single most important things we can do for our health. Will you join us in making health and happiness accessible for all?

S 2 Ep 16 - How We Affect Our World with Plant-Based Cyclist Ian Cramer
Wednesday Feb 26, 2020
Wednesday Feb 26, 2020
In this great episode of Thrive Bites, I speak with the Plant-Based Cyclist on his journey into the plant-based world and his contribution to the community and the negative effects on our planet.
Ian Cramer is passionate about spreading the message that diet and lifestyle dramatically affect individual health as well as the health of the planet. He motivates others and is motivated, by the simple yet challenging concept that maintaining good health and peak performance involves making good choices. Likewise, chronic disease may be reversed or prevented when these good choices, that are easily and economically available, become the norm every day.
Ian is an allied health care professional with degrees in Kinesiology and athletic training. Beyond his day job, he's a public lecturer and produces an interview-based podcast. Driven by knowledge, evidence and civil discourse, he created The Ian Cramer Podcast. With a mission to interview doctors and scholars of lifestyle medicine and plant-based nutrition, Ian's unwavering focus in his podcast is to learn more, disseminate this information to a larger audience, educate lay-people and the medical community and change the world by leading in positive and responsible ways.
In June 2015, he and a group of three friends from Ohio rode their bikes across the country in what's known as The Race Across America. Supported by a full crew, Team Oxford Autoimmune completed the 3200-mile journey in 7 days 16 hours and 27 minutes. For Ian, the estimated 6000 miles of training and racing for the event were all done on a plant-based diet. He continues to race and ride recreationally in Rochester, New York.

S 2 Ep 15 - Raising Plant-Based Kids with Dr. Yami Cazorla-Lancaster
Wednesday Feb 19, 2020
Wednesday Feb 19, 2020
In this episode of Thrive Bites, I talk with Dr. Yami about what happens when kids transition to a plant-based lifestyle and when parents can forgive themselves for the challenges of parenting.
From her website: "Hi! I’m Dr. Yami, a board-certified pediatrician and a mother of two active and healthy boys. I discovered a love for medicine at age 3 and my passion for pediatrics in medical school.
After graduation, my husband and I left our home in Texas and moved to Yakima, where my interest in healthy living has blossomed. Through research, I've seen the overwhelming evidence of the power that nutrition and lifestyle have to both prevent and potentially reverse chronic disease.
Wanting the best for my own family, I made the decision to start feeding them a plant-based diet. In the beginning, I had many questions and concerns too, but I’ve learned how to help my own kids make healthy food choices and want to help you do the same.
I’m passionate about nutrition, wellness, chronic disease prevention, and personal development. I want to support you and your decision to choose a diet that will nourish your children and keep them healthy for a lifetime."

In this fantastic episode of Thrive Bites, I speak with Tal Kapoor about her health journey and how she went from a troubling health condition to triumphing it and being co-owner of Crossfit Aviator!
Tal says, "Born and raised in Jamaica. I was an athlete from Tween to teen years doing Track, Tennis, Netball, and Swimming. I moved to Los Angeles at age 21 in 1995 to study Interior Design at UCLA. Graduated 1999 as Valedictorian and went on to practice design for high-end hotels such as Ritz Carlton and Westin in Korea and China. Married in 2001 and have 2 kids, son 16 and daughter 14.
By Jan 2018 my health was in bad shape with massive weight gain from self-care neglect over the years, along with High BP, Cholesterol, Blood Sugar and still suffering from PCOS since afar 13. I was given a devastating diagnosis from my doctor. I was on the verge of diabetics and would likely be on dialysis in 10 years. Confessing this to my dear friend, she shook me into action to change my lifestyle and nutrition. I’ve lost a total of 82lbs since April 2018 thanks to the products she introduced me to. My BP, Cholesterol, and Blood Sugars are all normal and I no longer suffer from PCOS! The best part is I’m off all Rx meds!
Early this year I closed my private design business after 22 years and became part owner of CrossFit Aviator. I feel amazingly healthy and happy doing what I do and sticking with healthy nutrition because I know better now and my life and longevity with my kids and husband depend on it."

In this exciting double episode of Thrive Bites, I sit down with Chef Dr. Michelle on a personal and intimate look into her origins on becoming a prominent voice in culinary medicine.
Dr. Hauser is board certified in internal medicine and completed medical school, internal medicine residency, the Zuckerman Fellows Program in Leadership & Public Service, and a Master of Public Policy and Administration degree at Harvard, as well as a Master of Science in Epidemiology and Clinical Research and the Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease Prevention at Stanford.
